The 'Sarawak Walk of Love - Purple Walk' support MH370
KUCHING: More than 9,000 participants joined the program Sarawak Walk of Love - Purple Walk ' with the theme' We Care We Share ' with the route as far as 2.7 kilometres from here, yesterday morning.
This program was intended to show sympathy for the families of passengers MH370 and support for governments that continue to look for the plane with the help of 26 other countries.
Most of the 125 contingents participated in the program this walk, carrying banners with messages of support for them.
Although initially targeted at only 6,000 participants, it appears it was well received of which 9,129 enrolled participants using a purple dress.
Even the organizers feel that the number is more so because there are also participants voluntarily without registration.
Present head of the program was the wife of the Chief Minister Puan Sri Datuk Jamilah Anu .
He was accompanied by Minister of Welfare, Women and Family Development Datuk Fatimah Abdullah , Minister in the Prime Minister Nancy Shukri , Minister of Education Early Childhood and Family Development Rosey Yunus , Assistant Minister of Welfare Robert Lawson Chuat and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Rodziah Morshidi .
Fatimah, in his speech expressed happiness with the presence of so many of the participants who attend the program by sharing a common purpose.
"I believe we are the only state in the country to organize events like this.
“We are united in our conviction, regardless of race, religion and age.
Glad to see all the wonderful message delivered, means a lot, “he said.
